A Public Pledge

I’ve read the books, I’ve done the soul-searching, I’ve meditated and exercised and konmari-ed, and, yet — here I am.

Creating a blog about not creating.

This is a pledge to myself. Not to create anything in particular, but a commitment to understanding why I’m not finishing what I start.

Here is a list of projects that remain unfinished:

  1. A short story

  2. A personal video essay

  3. A website game

  4. A serial webcomic

And that’s just the stuff I want to finish.

When I thought about creating this blog, I told myself: "I will write a post every week detailing my struggles, my ambitions, and what I've learned, regardless if I've moved forward or not."

But now I'm scared I will fail at yet another thing I've started. Another abandoned work. Another project for the graveyard.

What will I do differently this time? Will a kind of development log for my creative path change my current trajectory?

I am prepared to discover that I am not an artist, after all.
